Making money online: Week 1

Monday

  • Didn’t get anything done because I was having problems with my computer and later decided it would be wise of me to spend my time catching up on homework I’ve been procrastinating for a long time and studying for some tests I have tomorrow.   I could have probably squeezed in some time after I was done, but I decided that I was going to start shutting down my computer at eight ‘o’ clock every day in order to avoid the temptation to stay up later than I should browsing random websites.   I have a really hard time concentrating when I don’t get enough sleep.

    • Not off to a good start…

Tuesday:

  • I didn’t start working on anything till seven.   I spent less than twenty minutes filling out a survey on Amazon Turk, good for a dollar, and then proceeded to rewrite an article for an offer of two dollars.   While I was working on it, however, the hit expired and I was unable to reclaim it. I wasted a good forty minutes on that; I was pissed. Note to self: make sure there is a long enough allotment of time before accepting a hit.  I went to look for some other articles I could write or rewrite, since they typically pay $1 and up, but then realized I was being the middle man for these people and needed to start submitting things to the source (websites like AC, or on my own blog).   Using something like Amazon Turk is a good way to ensure that I am paid a set amount quickly, but there is much more potential available by directly submitting articles to other sites.   Note for tomorrow: try to get away from relying on Amazon Turk (it’s the only way I’ve really made any money so far).   I’m gonna set a limit for time I’m allowed to spend on Amazon Turk rather than my other sites or my own… I think an hour should do.
  • Estimated total made: $1
    • The ball is crawling.
  • I just found a nice lens, I think I’m going to try and follow it (link).

Making Money Online

Since recently cashing out $35 I earned on a website called Amazon Turk less than a couple weeks after joining, I’ve decided to challenge myself to see if I might be able to slowly work my way up to being able to make enough money online without a job (though I still need to work on getting a real job in the meantime).   My long term goal is $250 a week ($1000 a month) since, still being in school and living at home, I don’t have many expenses and don’t need any more than that.  There’s no way that’s going to happen overnight, however, so I broke it down into five smaller goals.

  1. Average $50 a week
  2. Average $100 a week
  3. Average $150 a week
  4. Average $200 a week
  5. Average $250 a week

I’m going to post an update to say how I’m doing on at least a bi-weekly basis and cross off a checkpoint on the list every time I reach one of the amounts listed.   While I may never reach the $250 mark, I’m fairly certain I can at least reach $50 a week without too much difficulty (I’ve already made about $30 in a single week on Amazon Turk).   This challenge starts next week.   At either the beginning or end of the week, I will make a new post listing the sites/methods/plans I’m using  to try and reach my goals.
